Kwesi
Amissah-Arthur, 61, the vice president of Ghana since 2012, last week called on
Italian businesses to invest in Ghana,
saying that the country’s economic prospects are high.
The
economist and politician, who has previously worked as Governor of the Bank of
Ghana, made the call as Laura Carpini, the new Italian Ambassador to Ghana visited
him at the Flagstaff House in the capital Accra to introduce herself.
Carpini praised
relations between the two countries over the years, and assured the
vice-president of continuing support and cooperation from the new administration
in Italy, promising that her country was prepared to support Ghana in the
pursuit of economic growth.
The
Ambassador commended Ghana for the economic and democratic progress it had
managed to achieve, and expressed confidence that her time in Ghana would
enhance the relationship between the two countries.

commented on the Italian expertise exhibited in the construction of the
Akosombo Dam and the Kpong Waterworks as well as in sectors such as mining,
manufacturing, energy and agriculture technology, and expressed Ghana’s
appreciation to Italy for her investment in, and assistance to the Ghanaian
economy.
According
to the Vice President, the investment environment continues to be enhanced for
the benefit of both countries and individual investors looking to invest in Ghana . He said that he hoped
there would be more collaboration between Ghana and Italy on both the domestic
and international fronts.

was also present at a signing ceremony and press conference as Ghana
and Lebanon signed a framework agreement at the weekend centred on trade,
industry, commerce, banking and agricultural
investments.
